Today, July 10, marks the opening of the 13th Arbanassi Summer Music Festival for Classical Chamber Music, which runs until July 17. The festival features four chamber music concerts that will be held in two of Arbanassi’s medieval churches.

Works from the festival programme will be performed by an international group of musicians coming from Belgium, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, France and Bulgaria.

Dobrinka Tabakova, one of the world-renowned contemporary Bulgarian composers, stands out among the names of the composers presented in the festival. In 2013, her first CD, String Paths, was released, winning numerous awards and entering the top three of the British Classical Music Charts.

From this album, today’s Song of the Day will feature the third movement of her Suite in Old Style, performed by Vaiva Eidukaitytė-Storastienė on harpsichord, Maxim Rysanov on violin, and the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, founded in 1960.
