Bridgeport warns of heavy traffic due to shows at arena, amphitheater

BRIDGEPORT — Officials are warning of likely heavy traffic congestion and crowded parking downtown this weekend due to a series of events at the Total Mortgage Arena and Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater.

Fantasia, with Special Guest Joe, at 7 p.m. on May 12 at the Total Mortgage Arena. Parking lots open at 5 p.m. and doors open at 6 p.m. 

Kevin Hart: Reality Check at 7:30 p.m. on May 12 at the Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater. Lots open at 5:30 p.m. and doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Sacred Heart University Commencement on May 14, at the Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater. Graduate students commencement begins at 9:30 a.m. Commencement for undergraduate students begins at 3 p.m.

Western Connecticut State University commencement, at 10 a.m. on May 14 at Total Mortgage Arena. Parking lots open at 7 a.m., doors open at 8 a.m. and commencement begins at 10 a.m.

“We have a busy weekend ahead of us, but I’m very excited to know that so many people will be here, helping to cement Bridgeport as a hub for entertainment and events,” Ganim said in a statement. “I urge everyone who may be traveling through and around Bridgeport to take caution when passing by the downtown area as there will be heavy traffic and congestion during these events.”
