Devotional, Classical Music Marks Day 6 Of Sankat Mochan Music Fest | Varanasi News

Varanasi: A beautiful dance composition, Shri Ram Ki Shakti Puja, by artists of Rupvani Sanstha was the highlight of the sixth night of the Sankat Mochan Music Festival on Saturday.
It was followed by recital by renowned violinist N Rajam who played Raga Bageshwari, accompanied by her daughter Sangeeta Shankar. She also presented a bhajan, accompanied by Abhishek Mishra on the tabla. She was followed by folk and classical singer Malini Awasthi, who presented a composition in raag Yaman, besides thumri, dadara and chaiti. She was accompanied by Pt Sanju Sahay on tabla, Pt Dharmanath Mishra on sanvadini and Vinayak Sahay on sarangi.
Sitar maestro Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan, accompanied by Ustad Akram Khan on tabla were next in line to enthrall the patrons of classical music. Background singer Javed Ali from Mumbai presented ghazal and Sufi songs after a bandish in raag Lalit. In the next presentation, renowned santoor player Pt Satish Beas from Mumbai, accompanied by Pt Mukund Rajdev on the tabla kept the audience riveted to their seats.
Renowned singer Kalapini Komkali from Dewas, Madhya Pradesh sang in Raag Ramkali after Mangal Aarti. She was accompanied by Ramendra Singh Solanki on tabla and Dharmnath Mishra on samvadini. In the final performance of the sixth night of the music festival, Yella Venkateswara Rao from Hyderabad mesmerised the audience with his mridangam beats.
